Round Trip

Round Trip by Ann Jonas

Some books are classics and this is one of them. I read this book to two different groups of preschoolers today. The first group were engaged and seemed to enjoy the book. They related to some of the pictures and attended to the story. I debated whether or not to read it to the second group. I am glad I did! They were totally engaged and some of them could recognize the page from the trip "into" the city. The kids were completely engaged with the book. They must have had very sophisticated visual literacy for 4 year olds.

Birds

Birds by Kevin Henkes. Illustrated by Laura Dronzek. Greenwillow Books. NY. 2009

Beautiful bold illustrations, bright colours and engaging text with a surprising but very satisfying ending. Great for preschool read alouds.

Dog's Colorful Day

Dog's Colorful Day by Emma Dodd. Dutton Children's Books, NY. 2000.

Dog has a series of adventures each resulting in a blob of colour getting on his hair. Good book for preschool read aloud.
